Public Health Department Participates in Career and Wellness Day in Belize City

Fri, 28th February 2025

The Belize City Council was honored to participate in the Career and Wellness Day organized by The Keepers Project, which focused on career development and health awareness for young people.
Our Public Health Department highlighted several key initiatives, including the inspection of street vendors to ensure food safety, addressing health nuisances like high-vegetation lots and derelict vehicles, and conducting school education talks to promote hygiene and safety. Tiffany Diaz and Josephine McCaulay, our Public Health Representatives, explained these efforts in her presentation, followed by a Q&A session with the children.
Councillor Dorian Usher, responsible for the Public Health Portfolio, also attended the event to further emphasize the Council’s commitment to maintaining public health standards throughout Belize City.
The event also introduced youth to career opportunities in public health and environmental health, encouraging them to think about potential future paths in these fields.
We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in Career and Wellness Day and look forward to engaging in future initiatives that educate and inspire our youth about public health and career possibilities.
