Mayor Bernard Wagner and Councillor Sherwin Garcia are currently in London, United Kingdom for the Wilton Park Dialogue on Advancing Sustainable Urbanisation.

Mon, 31st March 2025

This dialogue brings together top urban leaders, experts, and decision-makers from across the Commonwealth — including Lucy Slack, Secretary General of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum — to confront the pressing challenges of climate change and rapid unplanned urbanisation.

Hosted by Wilton Park, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and the Commonwealth Sustainable Cities Initiative (CSCI), the dialogue is centred around shaping a transformative coalition for sustainable urban development, especially in emerging and fast-developing urban centres.

Our team is championing  Belize City's and CLGF’s voices, ensuring that our local perspectives and needs are part of the global conversation on: Climate resilience, Sustainable infrastructure, Innovation in urban planning, Strategic collaboration with Commonwealth partners.

This engagement directly aligns with Belize City Council’s mission to build a greener, smarter, more inclusive city — and opens doors to best practices that we can bring home to benefit our communities.

Together, we’re not just participating in global dialogue — we’re shaping the future of urban living for the people of Belize City.
