Since 2022, the Belize City Council, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, has turned an abandoned property into a thriving green space! Our Urban Garden Pilot Project in South Side Belize City is blooming, and we couldnโ€™t be more excited to share its progress with you.

ย So far, our garden has produced delicious bell peppers, fresh cilantro,ย  lime, zucchini, and cabbageโ€”all sold to local food vendors and restaurants. These sales help fund the upkeep and growth of this incredible initiative.

Right now, weโ€™re busy harvesting habaneros and cucumbers, and theyโ€™re looking amazing! Check out these snapshots of our flourishing plants.

Our goal is to transform lots across the city into urban gardens, with the objective of bringing the farm-to-table approach to our city!ย
