1st Annual Little League Training Camp

In an effort to keep our youths active, engaged and harness their athletic skills, the Belize City Council in partnership with the Belize Baseball League launched the Little League Training Camp. It is a two-week camp that accommodates ages 8-13 from Monday to Friday 8:30AM – 11:30AM at the Roger’s Stadium. Over 100 children received certificates of participation and a great foundation in the sport of softball. Special thanks to Sports Coordinator Micheal Novelo and Councilor Micah Goodin whose portfolio includes Youth and Sports.

The 2nd Annual Belize City Council Summer Basketball League has officially begun! We are all ready for a summer of sportsmanship, teamwork and fun. Remember, games are played at Swift Hall and SJC Gym from Mondays to Thursdays starting at 1PM.

Sign Installation For Catch and Release Fishing Law

The Belize Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute in partnership with the Belize City Council recently installed a sign at Conchshell Bay Fishmarket to remind fishermen of the catch and release fishing law which pertains to bonefish, tarpon and permit fish. These 3 species have been protected since 2008 in order to protect marine life and their economic value to the country.

Downtown Rejuvenation Project Meeting

Mayor Bernard Wagner and City Planner Carla Patnett met with project consultants and planners to discuss the Downtown Rejuvenation Project. This project focuses on the upgrade and historical preservation of the downtown area in many aspects. Smaller components of the project will come together to form a larger picture.

Mrs. Myles 78th Birthday gift

Today, marked a very special 78th Birthday for Freetown Resident, Mrs. Veronica Myles as she was surprised at the senior citizen’s home with a visit by Mayor Bernard Wagner. Mayor Wagner gifted Mrs. Myles with a brand new-wheelchair. Mrs. Myles who is blind, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Wagner and stated “.… this birthday was made even more special with the gift of her wheelchair.” Mayor Wagner couldn’t leave without expressing his mutual excitement and serenaded Mrs. Myles with a Happy Birthday song. Happy Birthday Mrs. Myles!

Councillor Hylton continues Vaccination Initiative

In honor of Nurse’s Week, Councillor Deltrude Hylton (Public Health & Cemetery portfolio) in collaboration with Integral Health Services and Cleopatra White Polyclinic administered their second series of vaccinations for Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), The Flu Virus and Tetanus to employees of the Cemetery & Sanitation Departments as well as the Public Health Unit.
