Belize City Councillor Albert Vaughan & the Works Department install 498 manhole covers in Belize City

Belize City Councillor Albert Vaughan and the Works Department employees have responded to the needs of Belize City residents and have installed 498 manhole covers to date. These streets include: King St, Orange St, Baghdad St., Euphrates Ave, Goal Lane, Vernon St, Mex Ave, Amara Ave, West Canal, Regent St. West, Regent St, Albert St. West, Albert St, Mosul St, Kut Ave, Alexandria St, Hudson St, and Barrack Road.
The Belize City Council recognizes this need and we continue to work tirelessly to ensure as many areas as possible are addressed.

Swing Bridge gets a Facelift

This past Saturday our Works Department alongside Deputy Mayor Oscar Arnold and Councillors’ Albert Vaughan and Micah Goodin took to the Swing Bridge for a much needed colorful facelift. They were accompanied by students of Wesley Junior College. The bridge gets an annual or bi-annual paint job as needed as it one of the downtown area’s largest focal points anda historical landmark. Nearby corner Queen Street the pedestrian crossings were also repainted to ensure a safer pathway. The paint crew will be taking on other pedestrian crossings in the upcoming days.

Rainy Season drain suction

As the rainy season draws near we need to stay prepared taking into consideration every aspect of what can occur with our city streets and drainage. Thankfully our suction truck has been repaired and is now fully functional to get the job done of cleaning out backed up drainage and moving throughout the city especially to our most vulnerable areas.  If you know of any areas that could use some drain suction we welcome our public’s suggestions.

Patch work done on Jane Usher Boulevard & Sunrise and Apple Streets on Coney Drive

The Works Department continues to beautify the city streets day in and day out and the past few days have been no exception as the Works team  toil tirelessly. Apple Street and Sunrise Street were both recently on the roster to receive patch work as these streets were generally still in good condition but had some potholes that were affecting residents. Supervisors Ronald Burgess and Reynaldo Wagner were on site to monitor that it was a job well done. Jane Usher Boulevard was swept in preparation of premix; Supervisor Omar Guillen and his men did an excellent job of smoothly spreading the mix they emptied from the truck. All in all the men continued to do an amazing job.

Your Belize City Council is continuously working to improve our City

The concrete works of East Canal is one of the projects I have been very motivated to begin and now here we are well on the way to completion. We are set to finish before Christmas holidays! The works extend into west canal all the way to Racecourse bridge .

And it doesn’t end there. The concreting of Eyre, Gibnut, Raccoon, Chancellor, Ebony and 3rd streets , Allan Pitts crescent and of course Faber’s Road, East and West Canal;
over nine main thoroughfare on the roster are all to be cemented.
