The Belize City Council has embarked on a new initiative that encourages our staff to lead a healthier lifestyle. This initiative is spearheaded by our newly appointed Sports Coordinator, Michael Novelo in collaboration with Councillor Micah Goodin. In an effort to jumpstart our Health Revolution, we invited health practitioners to conduct health checks on our staff from each department.
The Belize City Council hosted a short ceremony to supply the Council’s Departments with twenty-four departmental vehicles; comprising of twelve pickups & twelve motorcycles. In keeping with our manifesto promise, we are placing sixty employees in the field, ensuring the safety of the public and enhancing productivity of the Council.
Today at City Hall another set of Sanitation staffers came to partake in the Stress Management discussion with Ms. Juliet Simmons of the Ministry of Health and Ms. Ingrid Bonilla of Cleopatra White Clinic. It was a very impactful and eye opening discussion for our Sanitation employees. They established ways and means of identifying factors of stress and methods of control. Citco values its Sanitation employees and their overall health and there will be many more discussions to come.

This morning at Divine Mercy Church we honored the mothers of the Belize City Council with a Mass dedicated to them. The ceremony was officiated by Father Scott Giulliani. The Mass’ Welcome was graciously done by Deputy Mayor Oscar Arnold. As well staff members Cordell Gonzalez Sr and Troy Smith engaging the Citco congregation in Psalms and bible readings. The Special Constable Unit was present for their Petition portion of the service in addition to, Mr Joe Lawrence the Church Organist, performing a mother’s day song. We concluded a lovely and well organized mass with a Special Address from our Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner and Vote of Thanks by Councillor Albert Vaughan. Of course as a token of sincere appreciation the mothers were issued a small gift.
Here at the Council we understand the roles of our nurturing, caring and kind mothers employed with us and in a heartfelt way we honor them.
The Belize City Council’s Administrative staff has been the glue that holds each department together. So it was only fitting that we celebrate them on a day designated for Administrative Professionals with a staff Luncheon. Our Mayor Bernard Wagner, Deputy Mayor Oscar Arnold and Councillors Ryan Elijio, Deltrude Hylton, Javier Castellanos, Michael Norales and Aisha Gentle were all present to celebrate this memorable occasion. The energy in the room was very lighthearted as our Deputy Mayor Arnold gave a brief speech to commence the gathering. This was followed by a prayer from Councillor Hylton and the feast began. But of course before getting back to what our administrative staff does best each was honored by our Mayor with a token of appreciation. At Citco we understand that when you build the employees, the employees in turn build the business.
