Today at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex, IDB hired consultants, Arimany Amapola and Claudio Magnifico commenced their two day workshop. The workshop includes an introduction to the Hoodlinks model and a training manual for the 15 coaches/coaching assistants and 10 community policing participants invited. As previously reported, the consultants are proposing to impliment a new sports program in Belize City that involves certified coaches who will be training adolescents from various Southside communities in the areas of: Boxing, Basketball, Volleyball, Skateboarding, Football, Track & Field and Judo. The ultimate aim is to ensure the youths are involved in a positive after-school program.
The Belize City Council wishes to spotlight The Belize Basketball Federation’s Belize Boys U15 National Team as they put up quite a fight beating out Guatemala 68-62 but were met with defeat against Costa Rica 62-50. In the end they came out strong with a victorious win against host team El Salvador 82-72. They secured 3rd place at the U15 COCABA Championship and we could not have been more proud of our boys.
