Belize City Council and S&B Ministries Lake I Summer Pantry Program

As part of Council’s Social Infrastructure commitment, the Belize City Council in partnership with Sisters & Brothers in Christ Ministries of Florida held a Praise and Worship Summer Pantry Drive in the Lake Independence Division. The event was geared to assist city residents in the area, particularly those most vulnerable with pantry, clothing, school bags, food items, shoes, baby supplies, and much more. Councillor Dr. Candice Pitts, who is the Councillor for Women and Children echoed that this is an opportunity to bring families together through worshiping God and providing mentoring for families and children.
Each family received a package and the Council thanked S&B Ministries for the wonderful collaboration which was a huge success.

Traffic Department Receives Donation From Serrano’S Bus Service

Yesterday afternoon, at a brief handing over ceremony, the Belize City Council’s Traffic Department received the generous contribution of two (2) Honda motorcycles which were donated by Serrano’s Bus Service in Ladyville.

Councillor Allan Pollard Jr. whose portfolio is responsible for Traffic explained that he was very pleased when Mr. Serrano’s contacted him and made the offer to donate the cycles which he welcomed. He further explained that the department is lack of mobility for officers who must be deployed all over the city to execute their duties and so the donation of these two cycles came at a great time.

Mrs. Tenisha Serrano who represented her husband stated that this was something her husband always wanted to do since it’s a way of giving back to the city

On behalf of the department, Cllr. Pollard expresses sincere appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Serrano for the generous contribution which will be beneficial to the department.

Mayor Wagner supports “Hoots On The Beach Basketball Tournament”

Mayor Bernard Wagner is a great supporter of basketball and he values our young people very much. Mayor Wagner was invited by the Ahmadiyya Basketball League Belize to the “Hoots On The Beach Basketball Tournament” that was held in Cancun Mexico. The tournament included representatives from Belize, Florida, Puerto Rico, Playa Del Carmen, Cancun and Chetumal. Games played consisted of under 13, 15, 17 and 19 tournaments. Mayor Wagner was elated to represent Belize and was presented with the trophy on behalf of Belize.

Belama Gators won the U13 championship against Playa and ABL Belize U19 won the Championship in an OT against Puerto Rico

The Mayor takes this opportunity to thank Ahmadiyya Basketball League Belize for the invitation and expresses congratulations to all the players and coaches who worked very hard and did an excellent job representing Belize.

Mother’s Day celebration for Port Loyola moms

Our Councillor for  Women and Children Dr. Candice Pitts hosted a Mother’s day gathering in the Port Loyola area in the lot at the intersection of Louise Bevans Street, Unity Street and Malcolm Street. Councillor Aisha Gentle a mother of one (1) was also there to cheer on the wonderful mothers of the Port area. Evangelist Derrick Pitts was Master of Ceremonies, alongside Pastor Fredrick who gave a lovely sermon. Mrs. Carolyn Trench-Sandiford was the keynote speaker for the event. Also in attendance was Mr Marshall Nunez who gave the closing remarks. All in all it was a delightful Mother’s Day celebration well received by the mothers in Port.
