Commercial Center Rehabilitation Project

We can all collectively agree that the Commercial Center building on Regent Street has become an eyesore to everyone in view. However, with the Rehabilitation Project well underway we hope to restore the pride and beauty to one of our city’s main focal points for residents and tourists alike. The Belize City Council and its partnership with Belize Tourism Board (BTB) and National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) have been successful in identifying the very best in architectural infrastructure and urban development for Belize. BCC is intent on renovating the Commercial Center and cementing its historical value where it stands.

Good afternoon – Can you help me please. My brother was called Peter Ashdown and lived and worked in Belize in the 1970s. He was an historian and teacher and wrote several book about Belize. Can you advise whether this street is named after him and why.

    Kind regards
