Public Relations Department

The Public Relations Department is one of two departments within the Council which operates with the least number of personnel. This department is staffed with a Public Relations Manager, a Public Relations Supervisor and Public Relations Officer. The manager is Mr. Shane Williams.

The Public Relations Department ensures that the citizens are aware of the works that the Council is accomplishing including disseminating the challenges.

Roles & Function

The Public Relations Department of the Belize City Council is the one of the smallest in terms of number of employees. Its primary role is to enhance, promote, educate and protect the image of the Council at all times. The Director of Administration heads the Department. The Director is assisted by one Public Relations Manager and one Public Relations Coordination.

The Public Relations Department also manages the Council’s complaint lines, which is 223-4014. All concerns could be address to this department that are then forwarded to the relevant departments for immediate attention. Report such as: over grown lots, drains, streets, garbage nuisance, etc.

This Department is also responsible for the upkeep, adoptions and rental of all parks, playgrounds, medians and roundabouts in the city. This responsibility is managed by the Park and Beautification Manager and Coordinator. Persons wishing to adopt a park or book a park should visit the Public Relations Department at 109 North Front Street, or call 223-4014. Currently they are twenty-two parks within the City eight of which are adopted.

This Public Relations Department works closely with all departments to promote any upcoming event. Some events that this department spearheads are: The Council’s Tree Lighting Ceremony, Belize Multi-Cultural Fair, the Council’s Monthly Public Meeting etc.

Aim: is to disseminate information to the public regarding the Council in an efficient and effective manner.

Cemetery Office

 All queries need to be done at the Cemetery Office located at the Lord Ridge Cemetery with Mrs. Valetta Lucario before payments can be made to the City Hall. When registering a death the Death Certificate MUST be presented at the time of registering.
